solo exhibition – tir mostovna gallery – Nova gorica

THE MATTER: WATER

On Friday 7th February, my solo exhibition was open at Tir Mostovna Gallery, Nova Gorica.

Art works which I presneted, reperesent five years of wokting and exploring painting with liquid paint and water.

The exhibition Matter: water, explores water as the basis of life and a universal connecting element through art and sound works. In the paintings, the creative process is based on the free movement of pigments on the canvas, imitating the currents of water and its ability to shape the world around us. With the help of the play of light and sound, the author emphasizes the infinite connection between the micro- and macroworlds and draws attention to man’s responsibility towards nature.

‘What fascinates me most, is the exploration of waters behaviour, searching for its path through the canvas, as it looks exackly the same as looking at the views of an airplaine. Water does have its own consciousness: we can notice it in our body, trees, plants, clouds, etc. My work represents all this behaviours, traces of water.’

“We do not own life, we owe it to the planet,” is the theme of the exhibition, which celebrates water as the matrix of life. The exhibition is complemented by a series of interviews recorded on unique DIY MP3 players, authored by Lavoslava Benčič, with experts who shed light on the topic of giving space to the river.

Water is a primary, infinite source of information. It is an intelligence that carries many records. Water is a spectrum of physical, psychological and spiritual states. It transmits, records and stores information within all four elements. A substance like water is certainly a persona, a character of many faces. Water plays endless shows every day. Its movement through space and time is almost imperceptible to humans. A reflection, ripple, splash, or massive flow of quantity. Sound, texture, shape, speed, depth and ultimately silence. Light travels through water. It gives it colors, shades, tones that characterize our environment, habits, well-being and daily rituals.
